Gallimaufry & Greene |
At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2008
**** Three Weeks - “unusual, but WORKS BRILLIANTLY.”
“It is not necessary to know the stories of the films involved; each dance was so good that it explained itself” – Three Weeks
“FROM HERE TO ETERNITY’s steamy beach scene and the ballet from THE RED SHOES are enjoyably familiar... Much more compelling is the company’s take on CASABLANCA and JOAN OF ARC, which wisely attempts to capture the spirit of the original works in a specifically dance language. This is most moving in the CASABLANCA sequence” – The List
“Golden moments from classic Hollywood films... the piece connects most immediately with the audience.” – The List
“Enthusiastic … a series of iconic moments from the silver screen…a naturalistic rendition of the movement in the films themselves… Travis Judd Hollister succeeds in finding the emotional heart of the characters he portrays.” – The Stage

Renowned dancer and choreographer

Travis Judd Hollister (Dancer) grew up in Oakley, California a little town with little appreciation for the arts or anything requiring an open mind. Growing up dancing in his living room with family and friends, his mother finally discovered an all-boys, hip-hop class in which he could transfer some of his energy. By the age of 9, Travis began competing dance with Jazz, Ballet, and Tap. This hobby of his became a passion at the age 12 when he saw kids his age dancing in commercials and movies. He knew he wanted to dance and perform. Travis continued competing and performing all over the Western United States winning numerous titles and awards at national competitions until he was 18. Some of Travis' performances include movie premieres and gala events in Las Vegas, an Oakland Children's Hospital Fundraiser with Davy Jones, and shows at Universal Studios and various venues throughout California. During his senior year of high school, he decided to continue his education and study dance in Southern California. Travis soon found his love for Modern Dance when he began studying at California State University, Long Beach as a Dance Major in Fall of 2005. Travis has been in numerous dance concerts at CSULB which have enabled him to work with such modern influences as Douglas Nielsen and Keith Johnson. In the Fall 2006, he had the privelege of working with Sean Greene during Sean's position as Guest Faculty Member. This sparked a wonderful relationship and has brought Travis to where he is today. Travis is very happy with where life has taken him and he looks forward to a bright future with Gallimaufry and Greene, his first dance company.
